Merrimack County, NH Divorce Records

Merrimack County divorce records are legal documents that contain information about divorce proceedings that were finalized locally. These records typically contain personal information of both spouses, such as their full names, the divorce filing and finalization dates, and the divorce decree outlining the terms. Per New Hampshire RSA 5-C:102, VI, divorce records before 1948 are considered public. Conversely, more recent divorce records are confidential and are only released to eligible persons. These include the registrant (the bride and groom), their immediate family members, and other parties with a "direct and tangible interest" in the record, such as an attorney, physicians, a funeral director, or an authorized representative.

In Merrimack County, divorce proceedings are handled by the County Circuit Court Family Divisions. However, eligible parties may obtain Merrimack County divorce records (from 1979 to within 6 months of the present date) through the clerk’s office of the municipality where the divorce was finalized. For instance, divorce records from the City of Concord are available through the City Clerk’s Office. Requesters are typically charged $15 for certified copies of a requested record and $10 for an additional copy.
